Missed the date!

You probably noticed it’s passed the 24th, and I’ve not announced the availability of V2 of the IM Index Mind Map.

I’m not going to come up with a string of excuses – nor even reasons. All I can do is apologise.

My error was in giving the original undertaking. I underestimated the remaining work required, and I didn’t provide any contingency for unforseen circumstances (which did arise!).

Knowing how to plan, and actually doing the planning are not the same thing!

I’m now clashing with other scheduled activities that I cannot move, so I’m not in a position to give a new date at the moment: things are moving forward, but not fast or regularly enough for me to confidently give a new date.

OK folks – we have a launch date for Version 2.2.0 – its Thursday April 24th.

Here are the main attractions for you to promote.

As I write this post, I am in the middle of apply the V2.2 upgrade to my own IM Index installation – so it’s just about ready!

Here is my release sequence (without firm dates, I’m afraid):

• Release an “Upgrade Installer” to current customers for version 2.2
• Release the new Bonus – the eXtreme Resources Pack - to current customers. This should help boost the conversion rates at the site when it’s announced. The way people will download this Pack will be through 14 DAO Installers. This will be the first experience anyone has of using a DAO Installer. 
• Update the sales page and make V2.2 available to new customers, along with the eXtreme Resource Pack (XRP) bonus.
• Announce the next round of developments

As soon as I feel confident about a date for the public release of V2.2, I’ll let you all know so you can start planning your promotions.

I’ll have new videos available which will include a demonstration of how easy it will be for customers to download the 100+ products in the XRP.

This should be a killer of an offer!

I’ll be launching V2.2 of the IM Index Mind Map early in April – and there will be a special promotion for you to take part in. More on that over the next few days.

Most of the changes will involve adding new topics to the Map and few new folders based on users’ needs. But there will be two particularly notable enhancements.

1. The addition of “Type” topics/folders
2. The addition of “Download Report” folders

The Type topics and folders will allow you to store files categorized by the type of file, such as:

• eBook
• Audio
• Video
• Keyword List
• Aricle
• Script
• etc.

This idea may seem to go against the grain of the approach I’ve taken in the Mind Map, which is to organize content by Subject (Taffic Generation, Google Adwords, Article Marketing etc.) or Niche

However, there are often cases where you DO need to store content by Type – most often when you have a zip file containing files of a single type, but covering many subject. For example, a zip file of Keyword Lists covering many niches, or a zip file of articles, covering many Subjects/Niches.

There were already places for storing such content in amongst the Subject topics, but the time has come to be more rigorous about this and have a proper collection of Type folders.

The Download Reports folders will set the stage for two developments.

I’ll talk about those developments in my next post, but for now, let me briefly explain the idea behind these folders.

It’s a matter of Space and Time. Our minds think both in terms of where something is, and when something happened.

As it stands, the IM Index Mind Map has the Space dimension covered: you download some files, and the Map helps you find the exact place (= Space) to store them.

But the Time dimension is missing. Very often we remember or want to recall when we downloaded something (=Time). In otherwords – wouldn’t it be great to be able to find – all in one place, a record of each file we downloaded?

That’s what the Download Reports folder will give you. It’s a folder and a template for a report for recording your downloads.

Now – how many people are going to be disciplined enough to fill in a record in a spreadsheet every time they download a file? Probably not very many – but for those that want to do it – the facility will be there. 

But the Download Reports folder actually pave the way for what is the most important development in the IM Index Mind Map since it was launched.

It’s all tied in with the idea of DAO Installers.

Some of you will already know of this idea from other communications, but I’ll cover this and other plans for the launch of Version 2.2 in my next post.
